It's just dinner: Former governor plays down speculations of Senate bid
Former Governor Mike Rounds says his address at Union County's Lincoln Day Dinner is not an implication he is running for U.S. Senate in 2014.
Senator Dan Lederman told the Sioux City Journal he expects the former governor to run for Senator Tim Johnson's U.S. Senate seat in 2014. However, Rounds tells KSFY News he has not made a decision.
Rounds said earlier this year he indicated he would take serious thought into running for Senate in 2014, but he has not made a decision.
Rounds served two terms as South Dakota's governor from 2002-2010. Before his gubernatorial terms he served in the South Dakota State Legislator. In 1991 he was elected to the state Senate and in 1995 he was chosen to be the Senate Majority Leader.
