SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A man who killed a woman on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota has been sentenced to 16 years in federal prison.
Lawrence Whipple, 54, of Mission, pleaded guilty in June to second-degree murder in the February stabbing death of Loretta Waugh. U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Whipple was sentenced Wednesday.
Whipple will be on supervised release for three years following his prison term.
