At many gas stations in Sioux Falls a gallon of regular gas will now cost you over four dollars. According to AAA's Fuel Gauge Report the current national average price for a gallon of regular gas is $3.87. Thursday the average price was $3.86. A month ago the average was $3.70 and a year ago the national average price was $3.63.
South Dakota's average price for a gallon of regular gas is also up. The current average has climbed to $3.89. A week ago the average price was $3.80. The entire tri-state area is seeing higher gas prices. Iowa has gone from an average price of $3.76 to $3.88 in a week. Minnesota is even worse from an average of $3.79 to $3.96 in a week.
We are seeing gas prices over $4.00 a gallon for regular gas in Sioux Falls. We are seeing prices range from around $4.06 at the highest to about $3.79 for the lowest. Again that is for regular gas. AAA of South Dakota says we should start to see relief soon when refineries change over to the less expensive winter blends and the summer driving season comes to an end. Unfortunately they don't know exactly when that will be.
