Mitchell sex offender arrested for sexual contact with 6-year-old

The Mitchell Police Division arrested a sex offender who allegedly had sexual contact with a 6-year-old girl who is mentally handicapped.

Mitchell police arrested Mark Johnson, 54, of Mitchell who is a registered sex offender.

Johnson was charged for the offense of sexual contact with a child under the age of 16. The charge is a class 3 felony which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.

Johnson has two prior convictions for sexual contact with a child under the age of 16 that apparently involved an 8-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl.
