Sioux Falls Police responded to the area of 41st Street and Kelley Avenue for a possible stabbing, Sunday morning, which left two injured and the suspect charged with aggravated assault.
It happened around 4:30 a.m. near the Last Stop CD Shop. Officers found the victim with three stab wounds to her chest and abdomen. The suspect, at the time, was being restrained by a friend of the victim.
Police later found the female victim is the wife of the suspect.
Police say the victim and her male acquaintance had been out with each other during the night. They had left the victim's vehicle parked to the rear of the Last Stop CD Shop and went to another location in the male acquaintance's vehicle.
Police say the suspect had both a butcher knife and a large kitchen knife. The male victim was able to get the knives out of the victim's hands and restrain the suspect. Meanwhile, the female victim ran to the street to flag down any vehicles. A person stopped when he or she noticed the woman was bleeding.
Both the victim and her friend's injuries were deemed to be non-life threatening.
