PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard is urging military personnel to register soon to vote in the November election.
Daugaard says the deadline to register to vote in South Dakota is Oct. 22.
The governor says members of the military serve around the world to defend freedom, and one of those freedoms is the right to vote.
Daugaard says military personnel and their family members should register to vote and apply for absentee ballots immediately. They can complete a Federal Post Card Application that lets them register and request an absentee ballot in one step.
