In a year soy bean prices across the country have risen nearly $5 a bushel. At this time last year the average price in the US was $11.40.
The rise of the price is largely due to the nationwide drought.
Ron Sievert, CEO of Natural Gold LLC is still having a successful year even due to the rise in prices.
"This year has been just fine for me," Sievert said. "If the numbers keep looking like they are at the end of the year, this one could be better than last."
At Sievert's soybean processing plant they do things a little differently. Natural Gold uses a mechanical process not chemical to remove the oil from the soybeans.
"Soybeans are the only grade with all 13 amino acids," Sievert mentioned. "It is important to make sure you keep all the nutrients."
In addition to processing feed for animals Sievert also makes a patented diesel fuel additive.
