One person is recovering from minor injuries after crashing into a horse.
The crash happened north of Corsica at about 7:00 a.m. Thursday. South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Matthew Petersen said a horse got out of the Horse Sale Incorporated sale barn in Corsica and it was walking down the middle of Highway 281.
Petersen said the highway patrol received a call that there was a horse on the road, but a very short while later someone reported a car had hit the horse.
The horse died and the driver received minor injuries. Petersen said the vehicle had about $5,000 worth of damage.
Petersen said speed and alcohol are not a factor and the driver was wearing a seatbelt.
