UPDATE: A state prison inmate reported missing from a minimum custody unit in Sioux Falls earlier Saturday is back in custody.
Inmate Gregory Lewandowski was found by law enforcement while walking along Interstate 29 north of Sioux Falls around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
He has since been returned to the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.
EARLIER STORY: A search is under way for a state prison inmate from the minimum-security unit in Sioux Falls.
Inmate Gregory Lewandowski left UnitC of the Jameson Annex to the South Dakota State Penitentiary without authorization.
He is currently serving a 9 year, 7month sentence with 3 years suspended for fifth offense DWI out of Day County.
Lewandowski, 47, is a white male,approximately 6-feet-tall and weighs 220 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone who sees Lewandowski or knows of his whereabouts should contact law enforcement immediately.
Police say he is not connected to a robbery that led to a standoff northwest of Sioux Falls.
