Emergency crews practicing HazMat response

MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) - Emergency officials in Aurora, Davison and Hanson counties held a hazardous materials exercise on Saturday.

Davison County Emergency Manager Jim Montgomery says the exercise at the Davison County Fairgrounds in Mitchell will focus primarily on preparing emergency responders to effectively respond to HazMat incidents.

Crews from Mitchell, Alexandria, Emery, Mt. Vernon, Rosedale Colony and other areas will respond to several different scenarios, including an explosion, tank truck mishap and an evacuation.
