SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A South Dakota prison inmate has been apprehended after leaving the State Penitentiary without authorization.

The state Corrections Department reports that Gregory Lewandowski left the minimum-security unit in Sioux Falls, but was caught later Saturday while walking along Interstate 29 north of Sioux Falls.

The 47-year-old Lewandowski is serving a sentence of nearly 10 years, with three years suspended, for a fifth offense of driving while intoxicated. The conviction was in Day County.
