Former Gov. Rounds accepts Sanford advisory position
Former South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds is adding an advisory position to his résumé through Sanford Health.
Rounds has joined Sanford Health team to provide advice on the further development of health insurance programs, assistance in navigating the Medicaid process with an emphasis on health reform and providing strategic direction in Sanford's research, education and World Clinic business units.
The former governor is part owner of Fischer, Rounds and Associates which is an independent insurance and real estate business located in Pierre with offices in Rapid City, Mitchell and Sioux Falls. Fischer, Rounds and Associates represents many insurance companies including the Sanford Health Plan.
"Governor Rounds' experience as our state's chief executive, health insurance expertise and knowledge of the Medicaid program make him an excellent resource for Sanford Health as we continue to provide the best value for patients in the region," Sanford Senior Executive Vice President David Link said.
Rounds won't be compensated for his advisory role, but he and Sanford Health have agreed to support charitable health care project of mutual interest.
"I'm honored to serve as an adviser to a great South Dakota company like Sanford Health," Rounds said in a news release. "I look forward to helping its management team shape strategies which grow our economy, create more high paying jobs and build a better health care delivery system."
