Police identify man killed in Sioux Falls window washing fall

Sioux Falls police have identified the man killed after falling from the roof of Avera McKennan Hospital Saturday.

Joshua Keith Obenauer, 22, was washing windows at the Prairie Center on the Avera campus Saturday afternoon.

Police say it appears the Sioux Falls man was trying to move some scaffolding equipment on the roof when it fell over the side of the building. Obenauer was already attached to the scaffolding and it pulled him over the edge. Obenauer fell five floors to his death.

Witnesses who work at the Avera campus tried to help Obenauer after the accident, but he died later because of his injuries.

Obenauer was employed with High Rise Enterprises Inc.
