1. 6.2 Magnitude Quake Shakes Mexico
A 6.2 magnitude earthquake shook part of Mexico's Baja California peninsula on Tuesday. The earthquake rattled the fishing and resort city of La Paz at about 4:45 p.m. local time. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
2. Tornadoes Reported in Illinois
Several preliminary reports of tornadoes were listed in Clinton and Washington counties in Illinois, according to the Storm Prediction Center. Damage reports included a blown over semi trailer and roof damage. No injuries have yet been reported.
3. US Airlines Collect $1.7 billion in Baggage Fees
U.S. airlines collected more than $1.7 billion in baggage fees during the first half of the year. This is the largest amount of money ever collected in that six-month time period.
4. NFL Decided to Back its Replacement Referees
The NFL has decided to back its replacement referees in the wake of a poor call that cost the Green Bay Packers a game on Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks.
5. Egyptian Writer Arrested in NYC Subway
Mona Eltahawy, a prominent Egyptian-American writer, was arrested in New York's Times Square subway on Tuesday night when she was spotted spray-painting over anti-Muslim ads. The ads were put up in New York City subway stations on Tuesday.
