SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Wanblee man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for kidnapping a man on the Rosebud Indian Reservation.
U.S. Attorney Brendon Johnson says William Jakeway, 52, was sentenced Monday on charges of kidnapping and aiding and abetting. Jakeway pleaded guilty to the charges in June.
Authorities say Jakeway and his son, Jerett Jakeway, abducted a man in November 2011. They accused the man of stealing a "piece of property" from another family member. Authorities say the Jakeways forced the man out a vehicle at gunpoint and assaulted him.
Jerett Jakeway is slated to be sentenced next month. He also has pleaded guilty to kidnapping and aiding and abetting.
