This week's KSFY.com Game of the Week was a Class 11A battle pitting No. 3 Tea Area at No. 2 Dell Rapids.
The Titans have emerged as one of the teams to beat this season. However, they had fallen in all three previous meetings with the Quarriers, who were looking to rebound from a tough loss to Tri-Valley.
After Tea Area took an early lead on a 14-yard Riley Knutson touchdown, Dell Rapids responded with a short touchdown run by quarterback Matt Kolbeck to make it 7-6 late in the first quarter.
However, the Titans proved to be a tough foe, hanging around for the entirety of the contest. Still in the quarter, after a long run by quarterback Tyler Roeman, tailback Gunner Enz found the endzone to extend their lead to 14-6.
The lead would not last long. Shortly after, the Quarriers dialed up some needed offense, thanks to their ground game. Tailback Riley Schmidt evened the score with a 6-yard touchdown scamper to tie the game at 14-14 after the first quarter.
In the second, future SDSU Jackrabbit Cole Langer would give Dell Rapids their first lead of the contest with a 40-yard touchdown run to make it 21-14.
The seven-point advantage lasted until late in the first half, when Roeman capped off a long drive with a 10-yard touchdown dive to tie things at 21 heading into halftime.
Despite their relentless play early, the final two quarters would go to the Quarriers. Schmidt would add another score and the defense held tough, helping Dell Rapids win a shootout over Tea Area, 49-34.
