Mission man sentenced for sexual abuse of minor

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A 34-year-old Mission man has been sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison for sexual abuse of a minor.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says that Robert Romero was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2011, and pleaded guilty to the charge in July.

Prosecutors say that Romero had sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl in June 2004.

Romero was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
