1. Third American Airlines Loose Seat Incident Reported 

An American Airlines flight from Vail, Co. to Dallas, TX had issues with loose seats last week, according to the New York Post. This is the third reported problem with loose seating aboard American Airlines flights in less than a week.

2. Peanut Butter Recall Expanded 

New Mexico-based Sunland Inc. expanded its recall of peanut and almond butter to include cashew and tahini butters, as well as blanched and roasted peanut products after salmonella illnesses were linked to Trader Joe's Creamy salted Valencia Peanut Butter last month. There have been 30 salmonella cases in 19 states traced to that product.

3. Tractor-Trailer Crashes in California, 30 Injured 

Some 30 people were injured on Monday when a tractor-trailer in California crashed through a rail crossing signal, colliding with an Amtrak passenger train. There were no immediate reports of fatalities or critical injuries. Hours later, authorities were on the scene of another train accident involving a tractor-trailer truck in the same area.

4. Gas Prices Slowly Falling

Gas prices are slowly coming down with a weekly average price for a gallon of regular now at $3.80, according to the Department of Energy. This week's average is down 2 cents from a week ago but still up 37 cents from one year ago.

5. Research Shows Bald Men Appear Tougher 

New research has found that bald men appear tougher and more powerful than men with a full head of hair. A researcher at the University of Pennsylvania found that men with shaved heads are seen as taller, stronger and with greater leadership potential.
