Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week: Collin Bertram
This week's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Collin Bertram from Vermillion High School.
Bertram is well known and well like by his teachers and other students. He has a 3.5 grade point average and he says he loves a challenge.
Bertram tells us, he is drawn to classes that provide him with a real challenge and force him to focus and to think.
"I'm taking calculus and physics and I've always been good at math and science so, also in college...I'm not exactly sure what I want to do yet, it could involve math and science though...something along those lines," Bertram said.
While undecided about the future, what Bertram is doing right now is impressive in and of itself. Teacher Mark Pier, Careers and Technology, testifies to Bertram's persistent character.
"Collin is the kind of individual that likes to get out and try new things. He's a hands on individual. He's not afraid to try anything, do something new," Pier said.
Bertram has excelled in the classroom and in athletics as well—playing basketball and football. Bertram said he is thankful he has been able to excel during his time at Vermillion High School.
"I guess I'm really, I guess, kind of lucked out by going to this school," Bertram said. "I really enjoyed high school here."
For being named out Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week, Bertram will receive a $100 scholarship from Clay-Union Electric Cooperative—which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
