South Dakota/Nebraska search and rescue teams looking for missing fisherman

Posted: Updated:

Nebraska and South Dakota search and rescue teams along with South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks are looking for a missing fisherman Saturday.

Officials say crews have been searching since 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Officials say the man fell off his boat when he threw an anchor into the Missouri River at Ponca State Park on the Nebraska side.

Officials say he was with another man fishing on the Missouri River Saturday. That man was able to swim to shore. He is OK and didn't have to go to the hospital.

Officials aren't releasing many details at this hour but do say they will stop the search at dusk, sometime around 6 p.m. Saturday.

They have brought in a dog team to sniff the shoreline. Search and dive teams are using sonar equipment underwater to try to find the man.

South Dakota teams are from Sioux Falls, Yankton and Vermillion.

We have a crew on the scene and will bring you the latest after the game on KSFY News at 10:00.
