Hundreds walk for breast cancer in Brandon

Posted: Updated:

In Brandon Saturday morning, hundreds of people are lacing up their running and walking shoes to raise money for breast cancer.

The event is being held at the Brandon Valley High School.

The money raised will help give free mammograms to women who live in Brandon who can't afford one.

We talked to some walkers who are personally touched by the disease.

"She was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a mastectomy and went through chemo. She is going a great job and about ready to come to work. She was scared. A very life changing event for her," Amy Barr said.

"The money to raise for research and I see it at work and I think it's a better outcome than it used to be. So the more we keep doing to help it out the better," Shannon Jacobs said.

This is the 6th year for the event.
