Killer's friends, family not expected at execution
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Four witness rooms surround the lethal-injection chamber where convicted killer Eric Robert is set to be executed, but Robert's lawyer says none of his client's friends or family is expected to attend.
Inside the chamber will be Warden Doug Weber and a prison official who will document the exact time the lethal dose of pentobarbital is administered, and the official time of death as declared by the Minnehaha County coroner.
Robert had his last meal Saturday of ice cream. He had planned to fast between then and his planned death at 10 p.m. Monday.
Two media members, including an Associated Press reporter, will witness the execution. Prison spokesman Michael Winder says he can't disclose the identities of other witnesses, such as Johnson's family members, unless they choose to speak to reporters.
