South Dakota National Guard gets new assistant adjutant

Posted: Updated:

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Brig. Gen. Craig D. Johnson of Rapid City is the new assistant adjutant general for the South Dakota Army National Guard.

Johnson is taking over from the former assistant adjutant, Brig. Gen. Jeffery P. Marlette of New Underwood, who is retiring from the National Guard after 32 years of service.

Johnson is responsible to South Dakota National Guard Adjutant General Tim Reisch for strategic planning, strength management, troop readiness and mobilization support for the state's nearly 3,300 Army National Guard soldiers.

During a transfer of authority ceremony in Rapid City, Johnson was promoted from the rank of colonel to brigadier general.
