Man accused of hauling 74 pounds of marijuana through Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A California man faces drug charges after South Dakota authorities say they found 74 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of his rental car.

William Spivey III, 67, of Palm Springs, Calif., was stopped Friday for speeding about 10 miles east of Rapid City. The Highway Patrol says a police dog detected the drugs. Authorities also confiscated $1,500 in cash.

Spivey made his initial court appearance via video conference Monday from the Pennington County jail. His bond is set at $200,000. He will enter a plea later.
