The addition of a third flight to the Aberdeen Regional Airport allowed for 50 extra passengers to arrive from Minneapolis today.
Many of those passengers are hunters coming to South Dakota for the Saturday start of pheasant season.
Lee Brewer of Charlotte, North Carolina is making his 44th trip to South Dakota for pheasant season. "I've been looking forward to this for months," Brewer said. "I got a new shotgun, so I am ready. It's an annual pilgrimage and we always look forward to it."
When the hunters arrived to the airport they were greeted by the Rooster Rush Committee and given buttons, playing cards, hats, shirts, and even warm pheasant sandwiches to get them ready for the hunt.
The Aberdeen airport will continue to run an additional third flight all the way through the end of pheasant season.
Pheasant season ends January 6th.
