Sioux Falls police wear pink shirts for breast cancer awareness
Officer Michelle Paulsen
In Sioux Falls you might change the phrase to "Real cops wear pink". Sioux Falls police are sporting their support for the fight against breast cancer by wearing pink t-shirts under their uniforms.
This initiative came from Officer Michelle Paulsen as a way to help raise awareness about breast cancer.
"My Aunt Karen passed away a year ago August from breast cancer, and my grandma is a breast cancer survivor. Also one of my cousins a breast cancer survivor. So it runs in my family and I know everyone has been touched by breast cancer," Officer Paulsen said.
Normally, officers wear a black or navy colored shirt under their uniform.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
