The 50,000 square foot Dunham's Sports building opened on the west end of Lakewood mall Friday.
The store kicked things off with a grand-opening ceremony at 9 a.m., and store manager, Chris Hanson said 50 people were lined up ready to get in.
"Many of them were hunters," Hanson said. "They came right back here to the hunting section to take a look at what we have to offer."
The closest sporting goods store of Dunham's Sports magnitude is in Watertown, and having a store closer will be convenient for those who live in Aberdeen and those coming in for pheasant hunting.
Dunham's Sports employees 27 people as of now, and Hanson says he hopes to reach 40 employees quickly. He expects strong business for pheasant season and Christmas and more employees would be helpful.
