Soccer team raises money for injured trooper Andrew Steen

Posted: Updated:

A local adult soccer team is raising money for a South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper who was hurt earlier in the week after he was allegedly run over by a car.

The soccer players are donating half the money they raise to help trooper Andrew Steen, who was hurt Wednesday.

Steen had successful surgery Thursday to relieve pressure on his brain, but still remains in critical condition at a Sioux Falls hospital.

The fundraiser happened at the 18th Amendment in Sioux Falls.

Some of the players don't even know the trooper but wanted to help.

"At first we thought it would be kind of small but after networking we figure sky's the limit now," Dane Keller said.

The event runs until 10 Saturday.

You can just show up.
