1. Tributes flood in for former Sen. McGovern
Prominent political figures from across the nation are sending their condolences to the family of former South Dakota senator and presidential candidate George McGovern. McGovern passed away early Sunday morning while in hospice care in Sioux Falls.
2. Monday is last day for South Dakotans to register to vote
Monday, October 22nd is the last day for South Dakota residents to be able to register to vote in the upcoming November election.
3. Nissan recalls 2012, 2013 Altimas
Nissan is recalling certain model year 2012 and 2013 Altima vehicles that total about 13,900 because their bolts could become loose and fall out, increasing the risk of a car crash.
4. Estranged husband with restraining order carries out spa massacre
Authorities say the man suspected of killing three and wounding four at a day spa in Wisconsin had slashed his wife's tires two weeks before the Sunday morning shooting and was issued a four-year restraining order against him on Oct. 18. It is not clear if his wife was among the victims.
5. Polls show a tight race before final debate
Gallup tracking has Gov. Mitt Romney seven points ahead of President Obama, while an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows the race for the White House in a tie. Gallup tracking among likely voters shows Romney with a 52% lead and Obama at 45%. These results are from the time period between Oct. 14 and Oct. 20.
