The woman charged in connection with the death of a toddler in Wagner this summer has been indicted on drug charges.
South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley and Charles Mix County States Attorney Pam Hein said Monday that Laurie Cournoyer, 28, of Wagner has been indicted and charged with one count of unauthorized possession of controlled substance—methamphetamine, one count of possession of certain unauthorized articles in jail, and one count of ingesting an intoxicating substance—methamphetamine.
Cournoyer is also charged with one count of abuse or cruelty to a minor and failure to notify law enforcement of death of child.
A motions hearing date for Cournoyer's case is scheduled to for Friday October 26th. A second person in the case, Taylor Cournoyer, 21, pleaded guilty to drug charges last week.
