Hundreds turn out for McGovern prayer service

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A prayer service to honor former U.S. Sen. and three-time presidential candidate George McGovern has started at a church in Sioux Falls.

McGovern, the former Democratic presidential candidate, died Sunday at age 90.

Hundreds of people are in attendance at the Thursday evening prayer service. Vice President Joe Biden is among the attendees. He is scheduled to speak after Sen. Tim Johnson.

Earlier Thursday, friends, colleagues and admirers streamed past the open casket holding McGovern during a public viewing at the church.

McGovern's funeral is Friday.
