The South Dakota Department of Corrections announced Saturday morning that Donald Moeller will be executed Tuesday night.
The 60-year-old is scheduled to be executed at approximately 10 p.m Tuesday at the state penitentiary in Sioux Falls
Authorities say Moeller kidnapped Becky O'Connell from a Sioux Falls convenience store in 1990, drove her to a secluded area near the Big Sioux River, then raped and killed her.
Moeller fought his fate for years but in July said he was ready to accept death.
Though executions in South Dakota are rare, Moeller's will be the second in a month. Eric Robert was put to death Oct. 15 for killing a South Dakota prison guard during a failed escape attempt.
