The community has been rallying around the family of injured South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Andrew Steen. Now another organization, Taco John's, is raising money for the injured Trooper on Monday.
On Monday from 6:30am to 10:30am all Taco John's restaurants in Sioux Falls will be donating 50% of every sale to help South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Andrew Steen and his family. The 34-year-old was injured October 17th when he was hit by a car in the line of duty following an attempted traffic stop that escalated into a pursuit. Trooper Steen suffered critical head injuries and a broken ankle during the chase. Steen remains in critical but stable condition. He did have successful surgery to relieve some pressure on his brain but he remains in critical condition at a Sioux Falls hospital.
Caringbridge.org is a charity that offers free websites to people who are hospitalized with serious injuries. Trooper Steen's fiance Kristen along with his parents Dan and Tricia are using the website to keep well-wishers throughout the city updated on his condition. As of Monday morning nearly 45,164 people have visited the website to check in on the injured officer. You can visit the site by using the link on the left side of your screen.
