PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The CEO of a planned pulse crop processing plant in South Dakota says it could compete with North Dakota's established industry by moving into what he calls secondary processing.
Mat Chaudry says that includes such processes as making gluten-free flour, instead of just cleaning and packaging dry pea, lentil and chickpea crops.
South Dakota Pulse Processors LLC is working to raise up to $2 million from investors to move forward with the plant in the central South Dakota town of Harrold.
