Sioux Falls Fire Rescue is investigating the cause of a garage fire late Monday morning.
Firefighters responded to the fire at 1511 East 5th Street at about 10:40 am. The fire was found a detached garage heavily involved with flames. According to Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, the fire was extinguished from outside the garage because of the extent of fire spread and the age of the garage.
The fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes. Four trucks with 16 firefighters were at the scene and not one was hurt.
In a news release, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue stated a reminder of the dangers of playing with matches, and that it is important to remind children not to play with matches or lighters and inform an adult if they see them.
