Minnehaha County Sheriff's Department says speed was not a factor in the rollover accident that injured a 17-year-old boy.
The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Department and South Dakota Highway Patrol responded to the accident at approximately 4:10 pm Monday. It happened along 252nd Street just a half mile east of 468th Avenue, near Lyons, South Dakota.
Captain James Hoekman, Minnehaha County Sheriff's Department, said speed was not a factor in the accident. Hoekman said the vehicle crested the hill, the boy over corrected, lost control and rolled.
The boy was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV. Hoekman said the boy received serious but stable non-life threatening injuries. The boy was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident and was transported to the hospital.
