Sioux Falls police investigate streak of gang graffiti

Posted: Updated:

A detective with the Sioux Falls Police Department said there are people of interest in a recent streak of vandalism in the northeast part of the city.

At Tuesday's police briefing Detective Al Millette said there were 18 reports of vandalism in the last two days. Millette said most of the reports are gang graffiti found on businesses, homes and cars.

The graffiti was found in the northeast part Sioux Falls near Indiana Avenue, 8th Street, 6th Street, French Avenue, Weber Avenue and Phillips Avenue.

Millette said during police briefing, the vandalism is not organized gang activity.

"It's mostly what we consider, what we call, wannabes—kids that just really don't know what they're getting into," Millette said. "However, just because the amount of reports made, we've put some priority on these cases."

Millette said there are people of interest who they believe are mostly juveniles.
