Portrait of what Becky O'Connell might look like today
Tina Curl, Becky's mother now lives with her family in Lake Luzerne New York. She told us earlier this fall that she was going to do anything she needed to in order to make sure she was back in Sioux Falls for Moeller's execution. She told us she was raising money to afford the trip back to Sioux Falls.
In all Tina Curl and her husband, Becky's stepfather, Tina's good friend, and her husband's brother came to the execution. They all went up to a podium together after the execution. They all held pictures of Becky including a portrait that was made by a DCI agent. The portrait shows what Becky might have looked like now at age 32. When asked about the portrait South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley said, "This portrait might answer some questions for a mother. I know he spent a considerable amount of time to put it together and I was with him the night he presented it to her and it was very emotional."
When asked about the portrait Tina Curl said, " It was kind of a shock. It took me back. He gave me the paperwork he used when he put my picture with her picture. He gave me a DVD as well. He did a great job with it."
From here Michael Winder with the Department of Corrections tells us an autopsy will be conducted as part of the state's protocol. Moeller's family has the right to claim the body. If no one claims it, the body will be buried in the county cemetery.
