With this warm fall weather we're having, it's tough to think about winter snow storms.
But today, the city of Sioux Falls is talking snow plows and snow gates.
This winter, several neighborhoods throughout the city will serve as testing areas for snow gates, which are designed to eliminate the pile of snow often left behind at the bottom of our driveways.
KSFY News spoke with some people looking forward to seeing those snow gates in their neighborhood.
When the city rolls out snow gate testing this winter, some women we talked with say they'll breathe a sigh of relief
Linda Hillberg said "theres a lot of folks that don't have a man in the family, and some of the females that are a one-person family, have to get out and take care of everything on their own."
But John Olson said it's not a battle of the sexes, he's also looking forward to seeing snow gates.
"I think it's those single women, it's difficult for my wife to even to do it, it's difficult for me to do it, so i think it's a benefit to everybody," Olson said.
Olson said the snow gates help people get to work on time or get where they need to go.
"I'm looking forward to it because when you shovel your sidewalk and driveway, you get that done and then the snow plow comes by and blocks it. the hardest thing to move is the snow that gets pushed up into the driveway," Olson said.
Hillberg is just happy the city will be testing them again.
"I think anything that can help our streets stay cleaner and safer during the winter is a good idea. i don't know whose idea it was but who ever thought it up, i think they did a good job for our city."
