Update: Traffic is back to normal after Mitchell standoff

Traffic is back open in the Mitchell neighborhood where a supposed standoff happened Thursday morning.

At 7:58 am, Mitchell police were called to a domestic disturbance report in the 1100 block of East 1^st Avenue.

The disturbance was between a man and woman. Police say when officers arrived, the male suspect went into a back bedroom and took his life with a shotgun.

After police heard gunshots the surrounding homes in the area were evacuated and a nearby elementary school was put on lockdown.

At 9:45 am traffic was back to normal and the school was no longer on lockdown.
