Black Hills Red Cross warns of 'fundraiser' phone scam

The Black Hills Red Cross is warning people of phone scam claiming to be a Red Cross fundraiser.

According to the Black Hills Red Cross, people have reported receiving a call from someone asking for a donation for Hurricane Sandy and requesting credit card information. The calls do not come from the American Red Cross.

The American Red Cross urges that donors should never hesitate to verify who is contacting them.

The Federal Trade Commission has a site providing a great deal of information regarding possible phone scams. Click here to see their recommendations.
