LEXINGTON, Ky. - For the fourth consecutive week, the Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team holds the No. 1 ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

After making history by earning the first ever No. 1 ranking in program history three weeks ago, the Mustangs (25-1) continue to hold the No. 1 ranking following match wins over No. 16 Wayne State and Augustana.

SMSU (795) claimed 29 of 32 first-place votes to earn the top ranking.

There were no changes among the top five as Concordia-St. Paul (752) is ranked No. 2, followed by Washburn (732), Nebraska-Kearney (685) and Minnesota Duluth (666). For the third consecutive week, every team in the top five of this week's AVCA Top 25 Poll are members of the Central Region.  Other NSIC schools to be ranked in the AVCA Top 25 this week were Wayne State (16th), and Minnesota State (22th).

Southwest Minnesota State has now been ranked in the AVCA Top 25 for 90 consecutive weeks, dating back to Sept. 5, 2006.

SMSU will battle No. 22 Minnesota State and No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul this weekend for the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference title. SMSU (17-1) holds a one game lead over Minnesota Duluth (16-2) and Concordia-St. Paul (16-2) in the NSIC standings with two games remaining on the schedule. SMSU is seeking its first NSIC title since 2001.
