A member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in Aberdeen, found a piece of family history.
During a church time capsule opening, an 1890 Norwegian Bible was discovered.
"Pastor Jeff said the name Knute Carlson," Wendy Meyers said. "I was just shocked and I shouted out ‘Oh that's my uncle.'"
Carlson is Meyers' great-great uncle, and his bible was the oldest item in the time capsule that was buried in 1955.
News bulletins, Sunday school lessons, and hymnal books were also discovered in the opening.
Pastor Jeff Whillock said to his delight the items in the capsule were in good shape.
"It's in amazing condition," Whillock said. "All the documents in the capsule didn't appear to be damaged by moisture."
Meyers will let the church keep the bible and Pastor Whillock said he plans to have a showcase built where the bible, along with other historical items, will be on display.
