KSFY Morning News Season of Giving: Operation Christmas Child

Posted: Updated:

People across the Sioux Empire and across the country are joining together to make Christmas wishes come true across the world. They are busy packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is an outreach program through Samaritan's Purse. Their goal is to reach 100 million children this year. November 12th through the 19th is National Collection Week. You can donate a shoebox full of much needed items, toys, and gifts at a collection center near you. You can bring your items to the Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. You can also go on to the web site to find the center nearest you. You can pick whether you want to pack a box for a boy or a girl between the ages of 2 and 12. These boxes will get shipped all around the world. Since 1993, over 95 million shoe box gifts have been delivered to children in over 130 countries. If you aren't able to donate items, you can also give money online and sponsor a box, which you can follow as it makes it trip across the globe. Wendy Pierson is the collection coordinator at the Sioux Falls locations. She stopped by the KSFY Morning News to share what are some easy items that you can pack for a child in need.
