Sioux Empire celebrates Veterans Day

Veterans Day is Sunday but it will be observed in a lot of places on Monday since it's a federal holiday. On Sunday the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Military & Veterans Affairs Committee and local veterans organizations will sponsor a veterans program at Lincoln High School beginning at 10:30 a.m. A non-denominational service will be held at 9 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

Four area veterans will be honored by the Sioux Falls Veterans Council for outstanding commitment to their organization, community and country. Other area Veterans Day activities include:

Saturday, Sioux Falls VA Health Care System, 2501 W. 22nd St., Veterans Day Remembrance Service, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System Front Lobby.

Sunday, American Legion Open House, 1701 W. Legion Dr. Veterans Day Stew and Cake, noon. Free will donation will be accepted.

Sunday, Disabled American Veterans, 1519 W. 51st St. Veteran's Day Awards Program, beginning at Noon

Sunday, Veterans of Foreign Wars Banquet, 3601 S. Minnesota Ave. Social begins at 5 p.m., Dinner at 6 p.m. Entertainment.
