Fundraiser held in Tea for Trooper Steen

Posted: Updated:

Friends of South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Andrew Steen are holding a benefit Tuesday to help him in his recovery efforts.

Steen is recovering from a broken ankle and head injury he suffered during the line of duty last month. Steen was hit by a car while attempting to make a traffic stop that turned into a pursuit.

The benefit is happening all day Tuesday at the Artist Hair Studio in Tea. People are stopping by to get their hair cut, shop the bake sale and sign up for the silent auction. Men's haircuts are $10 and women's are $20—all proceeds go to the Trooper Steen fund.

Owner and friend Holly Stauffacher said she is proud of the fundraising so far and is overwhelmed by the support for Andrew and his family.

There is still time to donate. The benefit ends Tuesday night at 7 pm.
