In the Coyotes-Jackrabbits last meeting in the Dakotadome in 2003, SDSU won 22-11. Current SDSU head coach John Stiegelmeier was in his seventh season as the jacks head coach at the time.
"I remember some things about those games. Really what I remember most is after we went to FCS is all the questions about us not playing. It's fun that we're going to play again." says Stiegelmeier.
Now they'll meet for the first time as FCS, Missouri Valley Conference members. SDSU is 7-3, and need a win for a playoff spot. The Coyotes are 1-9, a win would be the perfect end to a tough season.
"We need a win. We've had five games decided by three points. I think one other by less than seven. We need a win, and to do it over our arch rival would be even better." says Coyote head coach Joe Glenn.
"It's a big game for them, not saying it's not a big game for us. But it's their Super Bowl. We can't overlook anything on tape, this is a good football team." says Stiegelmeier.
"This is game we circled on the calandar before the season. You don't think about the other games, this would be a big win for us." says USD senior linebacker Tim Marlette.
"I've had relatives go to both USD and SDSU. I've heard the stories, it's going to be exciting." says SDSU senior wide reciever Sean Daughters.
The game will kickoff at 2pm Saturday in Brookings.
