Human remains located on October 19th, 2012, at the Crow Creek, South Dakota Indian Reservation was positively identified as Shauntae Hope Marks, age 15. Ms. Marks has been missing since May 4th 2012. Positive identification was made through Bode Laboratories, a forensic laboratory associated with the National Center for Missing and exploited Children (NCMEC).
On October 19th, 2012, a body was found by residents of the Crow Creek Indian Reservation, in Fort Thompson, South Dakota. The body was found in a wooded area on the reservation. Initially, the body remains could not be identified.
On October 19th, 2012, the FBI became involved in the investigation and has been working a joint case with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Crow Creek Agency. Ms. Marks was last seen in the afternoon of May 4th 2012 on the Crow Creek Reservation. The FBI and BIA continue to closely work on this death investigation.
