Sioux Falls driver arrested after hitting two parking meters, street lamp
A Sioux Falls man was arrested after hitting two parking meters and a street light in downtown Sioux Falls.
Officer Sam Clemens, Sioux Falls Police Department spokesperson, said the accident happened just before 11 pm last night. The vehicle was headed north on Dakota Avenue, and according to witnesses the car was going 60 mph.
The driver lost control of the car and hit two parking meters and a street lamp. He had minor injuries but refused treatment.
Clemens said the doors to the vehicle would not open after the crash, so the report was listed as an injury/accident/extrication in the police log.
Steven Clancey, 28, of Sioux Falls was charged with reckless driving, no insurance, no seatbelt, and obstructing law enforcement.
Officer Clemens said alcohol was not a factor. Clemens said because Clancey had no insurance it is likely he will be responsible for the damages of the parking meters and street lamp.
