Shoppers line up for early Black Friday sales

Posted: Updated:

While millions of us may be getting some R&R after a day of eating some turkey, thousands are just at the beginning of the biggest shopping event of the year.

KSFY News stopped by a couple of the biggest retail stores in the Sioux Empire where we met several shoppers devoted to getting a good deal.

They say good things come to those who wait. You could even say good deals. Some shoppers set up camp earlier today to wait for Best Buy to open at midnight for its black Friday sale.

Gabe Nordvick said "there's a TV for a pretty good deal, a Windows 8 update for 50 bucks, not bad, a couple hard drives that are pretty cheap."

Sometimes you can't always get what you want and Nordvick says that's ok.

"As you can see there's a bunch of people in front of me so if they buy all the items that I want, I'll have to go to my plan B, so I'll just smile and not get too stressed," Nordvick said.

But for those who can't wait until midnight, there's Toys R Us. It got a head start on Black Friday by opening at eight on Thanksgiving night.

"I'm a shopper who typically who doesn't get come out on Black Friday, I'm usually working it. But my daughter was coming out and I said 'ok.' We were looking for things for my granddaughter and said let's get out and get the exact things she wants," one early shopper said.

Having a good strategy helps shoppers survive on Black Friday.

"We get here on time, and my girls stand in line, and when we get to the store, I stand in the check out line then they go find what they need and hopefully we get out of here and then get to the next store," another shopper said.

Whether it's a big screen TV or the latest must have toy, shoppers say braving the crowds this Thanksgiving night was worth it.
